Fabrics from nettles? European innovatively produced ecological nettle is a very high quality fibre with a matte sheen. During the golden age of nettle in the 18th century, the royals used the finest nettle fibers in their clothing. In the Knokkon yarn there is up 30% of nettle fibre. Thanks to the new innovation, it is possible to make products that contain nettle and enjoy the excellent properties of nettle. The nettle yarn is comfortable to weave or crochet, the hand feel is warm and the finished product is breathable thanks to the structure of the nettle elementary fibre. The fibre is just suitably porous to keep the skin at a suitable temperature.
Knokkon’s goal is to keep the carbon footprint of its products as small as possible. The materials are ecological and are sourced as close as possible. The nettle (urtica dioica) is ecologically and ethically cultivated in Germany. The fibres have been removed mechanically, without water, using an innovative method. Nettle-cotton yarn is an ecological choice because no plant protection products or pesticides are used in the cultivation of the materials. Nettle needs only natural rain to grow, which also saves groundwater.
Thank you for choosing an ethically produced organic product!
