DIY Crocheted cotton pads
These beautiful, almost jewelry like cotton pads are crocheted from one of the most ecological yarns available, Knokkon nettle-hemp-cotton yarn. Nettle (urtica dioica) and hemp are bast fibres with pleasantly rough fibre. The hemp and the stinging nettle fibres have excellent qualities and have been used since ancient times. The stinging nettle is also called the Northern silk as the fibre has silky like feel to it and gives the finished products a beautiful sheen and exquisite look. The materials in the yarn are manufactured ethically and ecologically for Knokkon in Germany and Turkey.
Half of the Knokkon nettle-hemp-cotton yarn is very ecological special materials, European nettle and hemp fibre The other half is cotton. The cotton used as a binder in the yarn is organic certified. In the finished product, the breathability of hemp fibre and especially nettle becomes very evident when the product is close to the skin. Nettle and fiber hemp fibre keep you feeling comfortable.
The set includes 10 g hank of nettle-hemp-cotton yarn and printed instructions.
YARN / YARN CONSUMPTION / CROCHETING NEEDLES
The yarn is very plentiful and thin; therefore the yarn is held double using a 3 mm crochet hook. The result is quite airy, but the pads will firm up a bit after washing. Using a 2,5 mm hook will result in a firmer, smaller pad.
The 10 g mini skein is enough yarn for 4 pads.
Using a 3 mm hook the size of the crocheted cotton pad will be approximately 7,5 cm in diameter, there will be some shrinkage due to washing.
Color: off-white, nettle and hemp bring small differences in color to the yarn, which are part of the nature of the product.
